2. Neurological Causes (Nerve-related)

These conditions stem from nerve dysfunction or damage.

• Neuropathic Pruritus
• Multiple Sclerosis (MS) – Itchy sensations due to nerve damage.
• Postherpetic Neuralgia (Shingles-related Itch) – Nerve pain and itch after shingles infection.
• Brachioradial Pruritus – Itch along the arms due to spinal nerve compression.
• Notalgia Paresthetica – Chronic itching between the shoulder blades from spinal nerve irritation.
• Meralgia Paresthetica – Burning or itchy sensations in the outer thigh from nerve compression.
• Chronic Idiopathic Pruritus – Persistent itch without a known cause, possibly nerve-related.

3. Systemic Causes (Internal Diseases)

These conditions affect internal organs and systems but manifest as chronic itch.

• Chronic Kidney Disease (Uremic Pruritus) 
• Liver Disease (Cholestatic Pruritus)
• Hematologic Disorders 
• Iron Deficiency Anemia – Can cause unexplained itching.
• Thyroid Disorders (Hyperthyroidism, Hypothyroidism) – Metabolic changes can lead to dry, itchy skin.
• Diabetes (Diabetic Pruritus) – Nerve damage and dry skin can cause itching.
• HIV/AIDS – Chronic itch due to immune dysfunction and skin infections.
• Paraneoplastic Pruritus – Itching caused by underlying cancers (e.g., Hodgkin’s lymphoma).
• Pregnancy-related Itch (Cholestasis of Pregnancy, PUPPP) – Hormonal changes or liver issues leading to severe itching.

4. Psychogenic Causes (Mind-related)

These conditions involve psychological or psychiatric factors.

• Psychogenic Pruritus – Itching due to stress, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

5. Environmental and Miscellaneous Causes

• Aging Skin (Senile Pruritus) 
• Drug Induced Itch - Certain medications can trigger chronic pruritus.
• Temperature Extremes 
• Poor Hydration or Nutrition – Dehydration and vitamin deficiencies (B12, A, D) can contribute to itching.
• Parasitic Infestations – Bedbugs, lice, and other parasites can cause chronic itching.

The Scratch Star needs to be used with a moisturiser for added safety and glide on skin. If you do not use moisturiser or are doing NMT (no moisture treatment) the Scratch Attack Roller and the Puffer Itch Roller is the perfect product for you, as you do not need to use these devices in combination with a moisturiser
